Project Manager – Li-ion Battery Industry

Forge Battery is a wholly owned subsidiary of Forge Nano Inc,. a fast-growing materials company with a focus on manufacturing nano-scale coatings across a wide range of markets including Li-Ion Batteries. Forge Battery is seeking a Project Manager reporting to the Director of Program Management.

The Project Manager should be prepared to work in a fast-paced development and prototyping environment. The role requires a detailed oriented individual who is comfortable working with an interdisciplinary team of scientists, technicians, and engineers.

Position Summary:

Forge Nano is seeking a Project Manager with deep expertise in Li-ion battery cells and systems, including hands-on experience in designing, developing, and building battery cells, modules, and packs. This role will lead complex, cross-functional projects supporting our advanced material/cell solutions for multiple applications ranging from aerospace to mobility and ESS. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of project management experience in the Li-ion battery industry, with direct involvement in both technical execution and customer engagement.

In addition to traditional project management skills, this individual will have a strong network of industry contacts and vendors capable of supporting battery pack/module fabrication. A solid understanding of the Li-ion supply chain, from raw materials to full systems integration, is essential. A technical background in materials science or a related field is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full lifecycle of battery-related projects, including cell/pack/module design, prototyping, and delivery in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as the technical and project lead on customer-facing engagements, translating customer requirements into actionable project plans.
  • Support sales and business development teams by participating in technical discussions, proposals, and customer meetings.
  • Leverage your professional network to source, vet, and manage vendors and partners for battery pack/module development.
  • Coordinate with engineering, R&D, production, and external suppliers to ensure projects meet timeline, cost, and quality targets.
  • Maintain clear communication across internal teams and with customers, providing status updates, risk mitigation plans, and documentation as needed.
  • Ensure technical deliverables align with Forge Nano’s strategic initiatives in advanced battery materials and system integration.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of project management experience in the Li-ion battery industry.
  • Proven experience in the design and/or build of Li-ion battery packs or modules, from concept to prototype or production.
  • Strong industry network with established connections to suppliers, fabricators, and integration partners.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles such as business development, sales, or technical account management.
  • In-depth knowledge of Li-ion battery technologies, including cell chemistries, safety, performance, and manufacturing.
  • Understanding of the Li-ion battery supply chain and relevant quality/compliance standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; technical degree in materials science, chemistry, electrical or mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments (startups or growth-stage companies a plus).
  • Familiarity with battery standards and certifications (UN 38.3, UL, IEC, etc.).

Work Environment

Work will predominately occur in dry-room and clean-room manufacturing environments. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, steel toe shoes, lab coat. Strict adherence to corporate and/or plant policies, rules and regulations in these areas is required. Travel

This role includes 25% travel to support customer engagements alongside account managers and sales representatives, helping to ensure the successful alignment of Forge Nano’s solutions with customer goals.

Compensation/Benefits

  • $120K – 135K
